The location of the wedding has a “haunted mansion” type of vibe, complete with a peat bog that has been known to swallow anything that ventures near it. Set in such an isolated location, with a fairly small cast of characters, The Guest List feels a bit like a modern Agatha Christie novel. The book is told from two alternating time periods: “then” and “now”, which creates a suspenseful framework that works well. ![]() Then someone on the island is found dead. There is an endless supply of alcohol and drugs. Traumatic events from the characters’ past are slowly disclosed. The guests are made up of family and friends, all who have a remarkable history with the bride or groom. They make such an attractive couple – one to be envied. ![]() The bride is a well-known successful magazine publisher. The setting is a weekend wedding off the coast of Ireland on an isolated island. The Guest List is a whodunnit that will have you guessing right to the end of the book. ![]()
